Michael Payne, most recently the band director at George Rogers Clark HS in Winchester, has been named Band Director at the Academies of Bryan Station High School.
Mr. Payne was an assistant band director at BSHS from 2010-2013.
Since leaving BSHS, Mr. Payne has served the bands in Clark County as the director at GRC, leading the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Ensembles, Pep Band, and the 100-member GRC Marching Band. Under Mr. Payne, the bands received over 20 distinguished ratings and two semifinalist appearances in class 5A with the Marching Band. The marching band was also named Class A Champion at the MTSU Contest of Champions in 2019 and has appeared in a nationally televised parade (Indy 500 Festival) and a parade through Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Mr. Payne is very excited to begin his work at BSHS. He will be contacting student leaders and band parents this week to begin planning for the 2020-21 academic year.
