On Saturday, September 9, the BSHS Pride of the Northside will perform at the annual Roots and Heritage Parade and perform our halftime show in exhibition at the Dunbar Invitational Band Festival. We are excited to showcase our students to the Lexington community.
Itinerary:
- 8:00am – Meet at BSHS
- 8:30 – Depart for Roots and Heritage Parade
- 9:00 – Unload at Silver Maple Lane and move to Staging Area at 4th and Elm Tree
- 10:00 – Parade!

- 11:00ish – Load and Return to BSHS
- 12:00pm – Lunch and Relax
- 1:00 – Meeting
- 1:15 – Practice
- 2:00 – Dress in Band Room – Equipment Trucks Load/Leave
- 2:30 – Equipment Trucks Arrive at PLD, Unload w/ parent help
- 2:30 – Buses Depart for PLD
- 3:00 – Arrive, last bathroom opportunity
- 3:45 – Warm Up (Area A)
- 4:30 – Perform!
- 5:00ish – Load Up
- 5:30 Depart for BSHS
- 6:00 – Arrive, unload,
- 6:15pm – Dismiss
Dress for the Day:
- Green BSHS Bands T Shirt
- Black Shorts, Black Socks, Band Shoes
- Hair must be up and ready to be in a shako
- No Hats, Sunglasses ok for parade
Food:
- Lunch and Snack Provided
- Eat a good breakfast on your own before the day begins
Parent Help Needed:
- Food (Feed the Band)
- Field Crew – load/unload instruments and props, move equipment to and from field with students
- Uniform Crew – Assist with uniforms throughout the day
- Cheering section – not able to help? Come cheer for the band at the parade and at PLD!
