Band Families: This continues to be an interesting summer. I hope you and your family are safe and are making the best of it. Preparations are now underway across the district for distance learning, set to begin on August 26. Teachers report to school this week to begin preparing our virtual classrooms. Crazy times.
Drumline Rehearsals
If you follow our Facebook page, you know that our drumline has begun rehearsals. They are sounding great and will be ready for any potential performances we may be able to safely put together in the coming weeks. Their rehearsals now shift to the evenings – Mondays and Thursdays from 5-7.
Sectionals for Woodwinds/Brass
All other sections will not be permitted to begin rehearsals of any kind until restrictions are lifted on the number of students that can be supervised at one time, by one instructor. We expect some movement on this the week of August 24.
Football?
Things continue to be very up in the air with regards to football, so there is no news to report yet. Any potential performances will be in the stands as a pep band. We do not expect to have access to the field.
Pep Band Music
Music for pep band is being posted in our members only area (password protected) today. I will email the password to students and parents once it is ready.
Parent and Student Meeting (via Zoom)
I am excited to eventually meet everyone. We will have a parent meeting, via Zoom, the week of August 17. Our executive board will meet this Tuesday to prepare. We’ll announce the date for the full parent/student meeting later this week.
BSHS Band Gear (Shirts, Hoodies, etc.)
Looking for some BSHS Band gear? We’re teaming up with Bumblebee Team Sports to get a store ready, so save some of your back to school clothing money for some band swag. The online store will be open for two weeks, beginning August 24.
Instrument Rental
Instrument Rental – Students interested in renting a school instrument can email Mr. Payne to make arrangements for pickup.
