NOTE: Enrollment for the 25-26 School Year is now ACTIVE!.
StationARTS enrollment: Current BSHS students may enroll here: bit.ly/startsapplication
StationARTS Out of Area: Students wishing to enroll in StationARTS who are NOT assigned to BSHS must enroll during the FCPS Special Programs Application Window, typically in March.

With over 65 years of tradition, the Bands of Bryan Station High School have never been stronger. Our distinguished concert bands, jazz ensemble and combos, chamber ensembles, and percussion ensembles are ready to welcome our newest members to the BSHS campus this summer. Students enrolled in a band class are also eligible to participate in the BSHS Pride of the Northside Marching Band and Pep Band.

To enroll in band, students must do two things:

  • Sign up with your counselor, or email Mr. Payne.
  • AND fill out the registration form, linked above.

All students must attend Bryan Station High School. Students who attend a FCPS Special Program may enroll in marching band if they are also enrolled in their school’s curricular music program.

Students who live outside of our attendance area can enroll in StationARTS, our special academic program for students with high interest in the arts. Students must sign up during the FCPS Magnet/Special Program window.

Why Bryan Station?

Once you become a member of Station Nation, there is no turning back. We have one of the proudest alumni traditions of any school in the state, creating opportunity networks throughout Central Kentucky. Music at Bryan Station is a focus – it is the heartbeat of the school! Our band program is well respected at BSHS – students can walk the halls proudly representing their status as a band member. We’re kinda cool here.

Why BSHS for Band? What Makes it Special?

Our band program is a college preparatory experience. This is reflected in our opportunities for solos and ensembles through the StationARTS program, our distinguished grade V level Symphonic Band, our award-winning Jazz Ensemble, multiple All State and Governor’s School for the Arts participants, and numerous placements into scholarships and university schools of music. Our marching band experience is also modeled after a collegiate style “athletic band” concept – performing for football games, select boys and girls basketball games, local parades, and other curated community performances. We do not compete in band competitions. This allows us to focus on performing a fall concert of more challenging repertoire. It also saves us tens of thousands of dollars – did we mention our band fees are usually around $200 dollars and you don’t have to work bingo? We do have a few fundraisers throughout the year like any non-profit organization (we have a 501c3, the Bryan Station Band Association) and love corporate sponsors!

What else do I need to know about the Marching Band?

It’s fun. It’s really fun.

It is proven that our students that choose to participate in this activity are more well-adjusted to high school than those that choose not to. Students are given so much time to work together that they grow and bond quite fast – your student is going to have a great group of friends in school their freshman year, and beyond. The friendships begin at band camp.

  • WW/Brass Camp: July 21 – 25, 9am-Noon
  • Percussion Camp: July 21 – 25, 1pm-4:30
  • Full Band: July 28 – Aug 1, 9am-4:30pm
  • Full Band: Aug 4-7, Times TBA (awaiting FCPS Professional Development Info…)

Our marching band rehearses on Mondays and Thursdays during the fall from 3:45 to 5:30. View our band calendar for a full schedule to see what you are getting in to. Just remember – we are extremely flexible and can work around most any conflict, as long as we have plenty of advanced notice. It is possible to play varsity sports, be in the fall play, be an honors student, participate in club swim/riding, etc and still be a part of our band program, including the marching band.
