Our program consists of two concert bands, jazz ensemble, chamber ensembles, pep band, Defender Drums, and The Marching Defenders.

News from the Band Hall

  • Congratulations Honor Band Members!
    Several BSHS Symphonic Band students auditioned for and were selected to positions in honor bands with KMEA District 7 and the University of Kentucky. Congratulations!
  • Chamber Music Ensembles at Open House
    Chamber music ensembles enjoyed providing music for the BSHS Open House. Catch them performing again this weekend at our Winter Market, as well as the marching band at the Lexington Christmas Parade.
  • University of Kentucky Honor Band
    Information on the UKY Honor Band is available here: UKY Honor Band. Students planning to audition for the Wind Ensemble must submit recordings by Dec 3rd. If you are interested in this opportunity, please let Mr. Payne or Ms. Johnston know so we can help you!

Uniforms need to be fitted and mended. Instrument carts and stages must be fabricated and maintained. Most importantly – the band needs to be fed! Find the way YOU can serve best and sign up to be a part of your student’s band life.
