Meet the musical ensembles that make up the bands of Bryan Station High School.

The Bryan Station Symphonic Band is the premier, varsity level musical ensemble in the band program. Students in this advanced ensemble perform significant band repertoire on a pre-college curriculum. The band performs throughout the year in our auditorium and in the community. The Symphonic Band also performs at KMEA District and State Assessments and the University of Kentucky’s Windfest.

Concert Band

The Bryan Station Concert Band is the junior varsity level band ensemble, serving as a gateway to advanced band literature and theory. Students perform contemporary and classic band literature appropriate for the developing musician. The concert band performs concerts throughout the year in our auditorium and at the StationARTS Gala.

StationARTS
11:15 – 11:50 everyday during Advisory
Band students enrolled in StationARTS receive 35 minutes of daily practice time. Students must prepare a solo, an ensemble, and participate in auditions for honors bands. Students also participate in a weekly convocation performance. Each student in the program, including dance, visual art, theatre, and music – is required to present one time a year for all students in the program. Students then provide critique for each other via discussion boards.

Jazz Ensemble
12:00-1:25 on “A” Days. Must be concurrently enrolled in Symphonic Band or Concert Band. Rhythm Section players are exempt from this requirement.
The Bryan Station Jazz Ensemble performs a variety of jazz and popular styles throughout the school year. The Jazz Ensemble regularly performs at the distinguished level at the KMEA State Jazz Festival

Percussion Ensemble
12:00 -1:25 on “B” Days. Must be enrolled in marching band
The BSHS Percussion Ensemble performs substantial works by new composers throughout the year. In the fall, percussion ensemble students participate in the marching band as members of the drumline or front ensemble.

Chamber Ensembles
All band students have the opportunity to perform in chamber ensembles throughout the year during their regular ensemble classes, and through student-led after school ensembles. We present a special Chamber Ensembles Concert in February to showcase these groups and prepare for the KMEA District 7 Solo and Ensemble Festival.

The “Pride of the Northside” Marching Band
Co-Curricular Ensemble that meets after school. Band Camp Required. Must be enrolled in Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Guitar, Keyboarding, or Choir to participate.

Pep Band
The BSHS Pep Band performs at select BSHS Basketball games during the winter months. The pep band is a fun, loud, and energetic ensemble that prides itself on performing current hits and serving as a lab band for student arrangers.

Drumline
The BSHS Drumline is comprised of members of the Percussion Ensemble and other interested students from throughout the music department. They perform as a part of the “Pride of the Northside” and as a stand alone group, representing our school throughout the community.
